RE: Weber 100 or 200 series "Q" grill

I've got the 200 and love it. Just this past weekend I cooked 8 chicken breasts, 6 burgers and 6 brats all at once time. It is awesome and I won't camp with out it!

You'll be in Yellowstone...there is so much to do you won't be able to stop them! Lots for the kids to see...Old Faithful, the geysers, the wildlife...and 11 Y.O and 10 Y.O's dream, not to mention and 30 something...

RE: Minnesota camping

I'm not certain what they have for camping sites, but the Gooseberry falls state park is a must see! Lots of hiking, and sites to see. I haven't been there for many years, but it is awesome. THen you will need to see the Splitrock lighthouse...also very cool!

RE: Madison Arm Resort - Yellowstone

I've been through there in the first week of march on the sled and I thought it looked really nice. Of course it was covered with snow!

RE: Better scenery IA or WI/MN

I-90 is one of the most boring roads I haver ever driven...plus right now there is major construction on the stretch from Rochester to Dexter (which desperatley needs it). Iowa is nothing but corn fields and hogs, so I guess either route is not going to be the best.

RE: Looking for nice places to stay in Central Minnesota

Check this place out: http://www.mnisland.com/index.html. It's been 18 years since I was there, but it was AWESOME. The "causeway" is a little freaky, but it was well worth it!

RE: Wakeup times when camping with kids?

Wayne tw, you sound like a grumpy old man. Keep the kids quite 'til 10am! That's insane! DId you every have kids of your own?! When we are camping, I let my kids have fun...if that means it's at 7:30 in the morning, then so be it. I try to keep them quiet, but it is simple torture keeping them inside when there is SO much to do outside of the rig. I am sorry if my child making noise at 8 am is to much for you...crawl back inside and leave us alone! That all being said, I do try to keep them quiet until at least 7 am, but my boys are early risers (6 am). Now, if I complained every time someone kept us up at night while they were busy partying and carrying on until 2 am....

RE: Anybody cancel Disney because of fuel prices ?

Nope...made plans last year to go to Disney in October. We still plan on going. Like I tell everyone else, when you consider what air fare, hotel, and eating out every day would cost us, a family of five, it's still cheaper to take the MoHo. Can't wait! We'll just absorb the extra cost and put off some projects at home. The boys are only young once and you can't do it over. Plus...you can't take it with you, and I have yet to see a herse pulling a u-haul!

RE: Where is everyone off to this Memorial Day Weekend?

NOWHERE and it STINKS! We are moving our permanent residence this weekend, so no time to get out in the RV. First memorial weekend since we've owned it that it is going to sit...DAMN!

RE: Grand Canyon/Yellowstone/Mt Rushmore

I would drop the Grand Canyon from this trip and do just the Yellowstone/Rapid City portion. I was there last year, took 12 days from leaving/returning and I live in southern Mn where it's only a 20 hr drive to Yellowstone. I felt it was just the right amount of time, and we took our time going to the sites.

RE: Travel Trailer vs. Class C...Which one?

I've owned a pup, a 21' TT, a 26BH, and now a 31' class C. IMO, the class C takes the prize hands down. We love it, and it's not leaving my possession anytime soon. I wouldn't give it up for anything. It's by far the easiest way to travel with 3 kids. Last year took it to Yellowstone for 12 days, no toad, drove it everywhere and where we couldn't drive it we walked. My greatest memories with the kids are in that rig. It's going to Orlando in Oct, again no toad. If I need, i will rent a car when I need it, much cheaper than setting up a toad and the extra fuel it will take to pull it.
But, by far, the greatest advantage...I don't have to stop unless I need to...no bathroom breaks, stretching breaks, food breaks...it's AWESOME!

Fort Wilderness

I know this has most likely been beat to death, but I don't have the time to sit and weed through all the postings about the campground. That being stated, here is my question(s) for you seasoned visitors of this RV resort.
We (the DW, and our 3 boys whoe will be 9, 7, and 4 at the time) are looking at going the 3rd week of October of this year. Any hints, suggestions.
How far in advance do I need to book? Any hints/suggestions to get the "best" site?
Is it busy at DW during this time of the year?
Any other suggestions or advice?
Thanks in advance!

RE: Wisconsin to Yellowstone

I would not take I-90 through Mn and SD as it is very choppy. I drove it in June and by the time I got home I was sore!

RE: Camping w/ newborn baby

Took all three of my boys camping in there first few months! The youngest was only 4 weeks old for his first trip. Start them young and hopefully they will enjoy it as much as you do. My boys are now 8, 6, and 3, and can't wait 'til the next time out!

RE: kids and manners? Any left?

I bet you think you are perfect and everybody else needs to change? I am sorry, but when I go to a pool at a "family" campground, I expect to see kids splashing, jumping and yelling. What fun would it be for a kid to go to a pool and stand in the water? Wow...let kids be kids! Let them have fun! The adult world is way to stressfull to not enjoy your childhood!

Atwood water heater to HOT!

I have an Atwood auto thermostat water heater in my '99 class C Coachmen. Does anyone know how to turn it down? It is so *$&*%& hot that I am afraid one of the boys may burn themselves.
Thanks in advance!
